Over the last 7 or 8 months I’ve rediscovered my love for wildlife photography. In the past I took whatever wildlife photos I could with my full frame dslr and a 70mm x 200mm lens..which are not ideal pieces of photography equipment for wildlife photography. I had been using that gear since college which was almost 15 yrs ago. Late last year I thought it was time for an upgrade, so I traded in my old gear for a longer lens and a cropped sensor camera which would be more suitable for wildlife photography. This spring I had a great time putting the new gear to the test at Point Pelee National Park with great success. I was so happy with the outcome there I wanted to take another photography adventure into the north so I booked a trip into the Algonquin front country . My plan was to car camp off the corridor that runs through the park and hit some nearby trails early in the morning hoping to see moose, fox, and whatever else happened to cross my path. However, I made it to the park only to get sick after a day and half there so I had to unfortunately cut my trip short. In my short stay at the park I did get to pull out the camera a few times so I’ll be posting the photos I took in the days to come :). As unfortunate as it was to have to leave early, I got my first ever clear look at an Algonquin River Otter. A short stay in the wild, but a short stay is better than no stay at all.
